| Case: | Excellent stainless steel case that has been previously polished and shows some scratches and wear from use. The caseback has some scratches and marks from it being previously opened. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the bezel insert is in great condition with some wear and light scratches. The numbers between the lugs show signs of wear and scratches. The reference number can be read and the serial number is mostly rubbed and the numbers are partially visible. Inner case back is stamped: 1680 IV.70 Acrylic crystal has some wear and scratches between 12 and one o'clock. |
| Dial: | Very good matte black tritium dial with creamy off white hour markers. The dial has some small dark black marks in the center that can be hard to notice depending on the light. The dial shows some wear around some of the hour markers and around the edge of the dial at six o'clock. The hands are later service replacements. |
| Bracelet: | Excellent stainless steel 9315 folded link with 10 links, 285 end links and divers extension. The back of clasp is stamped 2/72 which makes sense for the case production. This bracelet has a divers extension where Rolex spelled Patented wrong, it reads "Pateted." The bracelet shows scratches and wear from use over the years and has some links have slight indentations. The bracelet has some stretch between the links. The inside of the clasp also has scratches. |

This Rolex watch is in vintage condition with signs of wear on the case and bracelet. The case has been polished and has scratches. The bezel is in good condition with some wear and scratches. The numbers between the lugs show signs of wear. The reference number can be read and the serial number is mostly rubbed and the numbers are partially visible. The dial has developed patina and is overall pretty clean. The lume on the dial has aged to a pleasing off white color. The hands are later service replacements. The folded bracelet has a misspelled divers extension and is in overall good condition with scratches, wear and some stretch.

Rolex introduced the reference 1680 around 1969 and it was in production until roughly 1979. This was the first Submariner to feature the date function and Rolex still offers date and no-date models to this day. This example has the word "Submariner" written in red text and collectors refer to these as the "Red Submariner." Rolex did this until around 1975 and then they switched to all white text. Collectors tend to gravitate towards these Red Subs and we have seen demand increase significantly in the last couple years. Collectors have identified six different dial variations that the Red Sub was offered with during its production and this example has a Mark IV dial. The Mark IV dial is distinguished by the feet first depth rating with open 6s and the red Submariner text on white that can peek through. This example features an error divers extension in the clasp. Rolex misspelled patented on the divers extension, it reads "Pateted." These error bracelets are becoming more sought after by collectors because they bring the watch to the next level of rarity. In addition to the error bracelet, this example is complete with box, punched papers, punched "Your Rolex Oyster" booklet and hang tags. The original caseback sticker has also been retained after all these years and comes with the kit. This is a great chance to add a full set Red "Submariner" 1680 to the collection.
