| Case: | Excellent case which has been previously polished and shows light wear. Comes with a later service replacement black insert that shows some light wear. Caseback is stamped 5513 IV.68. Serial and reference numbers are clearly visible. This watch has retained its original non-trip lock crown. Acrylic crystal shows some surface wear. |
| Dial: | Excellent meters first dial with creamy white hour markers and matching hands. The dial has a little wear on the edge at six o'clock. Some of the minute marks have slight chips on the edge. The hands and hour markers have aged to the same off white, pale yellow color. The hands have developed patina. |
| Bracelet: | Very good stainless steel 9315 Oyster Fold-Over with 12 links and 380 endlinks. Back of Oysterlock clasp is stamped B indicating it is from 1977 and is a later replacement. Bracelet shows signs of wear and has slight dents on some of the links. |

This Vintage Rolex watch is in overall great vintage condition consistent with age. The case has been polished and shows signs of wear with scratches. The bezel is a later service replacement and shows little wear. The dial is overall clean with light patina. The lume in the hands and hour markers have aged to a lovely pale yellow color. The folded Oyster bracelet is a later replacement and in great condition with some slight indentations on some links. The bracelet has some stretch between the links which is not uncommon for this type of bracelet.

Rolex introduced ref. 5513 around 1962 and it was in production until 1989. It was one of the longest continually produced references from the brand. Rolex initially used glossy dials in this model and swapped to matte around 1966, like this example. When Rolex went to the matte dial they also put the depth rating as "200m = 660ft" and these are known as "meters first" in the collecting community. Eventually Rolex would swap the depth rating to feet first around the early 1970s and have continued this trend to the modern offerings. One theory on this change is that Rolex wanted to boost sales in the United States, but to our knowledge Rolex has not made any definitive statements on this shift.
