This Rolex 5513 is in excellent vintage condition. The case is thick with scratches and some wear. The case has been lightly polished in the past and some of the bevels are still visible. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the bezel insert is well preserved with light wear. The pip at 12 o'clock has developed patina and aged to a similar color to the lume on the dial. This watch has retained its original non-triplock crown (no dots under crown). The dial is in excellent condition with light patina. The lume has aged to a lovely gold color. The hands have developed patina and the lume has aged to a similar color as the lume on the dial. The folded link bracelet is in excellent condition with some scratches and wear; it shows little stretch between the links. The fifth link on the 12 o'clock side has a slight indentation along the edge.

Rolex introduced ref. 5513 around 1962 and it was in production until 1989. It was one of the longest continually produced references from the brand. Rolex initially used glossy dials in this model and swapped to matte around 1966, like this example. When Rolex went to the matte dial they also put the depth rating as "200m = 660ft" and would eventually go from meters first to feet first, like on this example. One theory on this change is that Rolex wanted to boost sales in the United States, but to our knowledge Rolex has not made any definitive statements on this shift. Rolex still uses the "feet first" for the depth rating today. Rolex made a few different variations of the "feet first" Subs and this one falls into the "non-serif" category.
The example we have here today is in overall fantastic, honest condition and really sings in the light. From the sharp bezel ring to the butterscotch colored lume this thing checks all the boxes. In addition to being a lovely example, this watch has even retained its original folded bracelet with error divers extension and "4/71" date stamping which lines up with the case number. We particularly love the error clasp, adding to the overall vintage charm. If you have been looking for a stunning 5513 with great patina, look no further!

Fantastic transaction and watch even better than described / pictures. Tanya was great to deal with, easy communication, give her a raise!
Watch shows better then in pictures . Second watch purchased from Bobs since October. Very happy with both experiences . I mistakenly overpaid on the price.of my last purchase. Along with the watch was a check for the overpayment. I feel Bobs as honest and trustworthy. Thanks
Excellent service . Fantastic communication. I couldn’t of asked for more .
The watch was delivered very quickly and was exactly as advertised. They even provided a few vintage pamphlets from the period. All my questions were answered promptly. Overall great experience. I will definitely buy my next Rolex from Bob’s.
The condition of this vintage Rolex 5513 is nicer than I anticipated based on the age. Your staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help make sure I had enough links in the band.
