Case:	Very good stainless steel case that has been polished in the past and shows visible wear from use. Caseback is stamped 1016 II.69. Serial and reference numbers are crisp and well defined. Acrylic crystal shows some surface scratches.
Dial:	MK I Matte black dial with white Tritium hands and matching hour markers.
Bracelet:	Excellent later 78360 Oyster with 12 links and 580 end links. Bracelet shows moderate scratches from wear. Back of Oysterclasp is stamped MA12 indicating it is from 2005.

PRE-OWNED WATCH CONDITION EXAMINATION

This Rolex watch is in overall nice, honest vintage condition. The case has been polished and shows some wear with scratches and nicks. The smooth bezel also shows some wear. The dial is overall clean with light patina and some darker patina around the edge that can be hard to notice. The edge of the dial around six o'clock shows some wear. The lume on the dial has aged to a pleasing pale yellow color. The lume in the hands show some wear when looking under a loupe and are a bit whiter in color than the lume on the dial. The bracelet is a later solid link service replacement and shows some stretch between the links and scratches. The link on the 12 o'clock side before the bracelet clasp has a good amount of wear and marks on it.

Vintage Rolex Explorer 1016

Rolex introduced the 1016 Explorer in 1959 and it was in production until 1989 making it one of the longest running produced references from the brand. At the beginning of the run Rolex made the dials glossy and then switched to the matte style around 1966. The example we have here is circa 1969 and features a Mark I dial with what collectors have dubbed a "frog's foot" coronet on the dial. The Rolex crown on this particular mark dial resembles a frogs foot due to the placement of the spikes. Vintage Explorers are some of the most sought after watches and good examples are getting harder and harder to find.
