The Rolex OysterQuartz was developed during the Quartz crisis of the 1970s, during which the Swiss watchmaking industry saw a significant shift from mechanical to Quartz-powered watches. The OysterQuartz series is similar to traditional Rolex dress watches in that it offers a waterproof Oyster case and an identical dial as the Day-Date and Datejust. What sets the series apart is the use of a case flanked by more angular lugs and an integrated bracelet. The ref. 19018 is a rarer Day-Date variation of the line that displays a jump date at 3 o'clock as well as the day spelled out in full at 12 o'clock. Similar to traditional Day-Date watches, the case and bracelet are presented in a striking yellow gold finish.
