The Datejust 36 remains in production, over seventy years after initially coming to market in 1945. While there have been countless upgrades made to the series over the past several decades, the Datejust's core design remains the same with a waterproof Oyster case, a jump date mechanism on the dial, and a self-winding movement. The ref. 116203 is a Yellow Rolesor example that features Oystersteel and 18-carat yellow gold. The case remains 36mm in diameter but appears slightly more robust on the wrist with more rounded and polished lugs. It also features more solid construction through the bracelet links, giving this edition of the Datejust a more substantial and contemporary appearance on the wrist than its 5-digit predecessors.
